I started my betting career when I was about 15 years old after some guys from the Under 19 team for the football club I was playing for told me about sports betting. I probably started like everyone else with a lot of big parlays and very small stakes. However, I never enjoyed the physical betting shops, so I only seriously started my betting path when I turned 18 and was able to bet online from home. I quickly realized that the best way to win long term is by placing single bets. I also began betting on other sports such as Tennis, Ice Hockey, Baseball, NFL, and now solely focus on Basketball. Betting on different sports helped me a lot in understanding how to find value using different strategies for each sport. However, my biggest challenge was choosing the right sportsbooks and implementing proper money management, which we all know is the most important thing if you want to be a long-term winner.
So, my first 4-5 years were mainly losing years. Then, I finally found the right videos on sports betting on Quotenwilly’s YouTube channel, which provided valuable insights. I started betting only 1-2% of my bankroll and found better odds on Asian bookmakers. Additionally, I realized that betting on multiple sports simultaneously was too difficult for me while working a 40-hour week job. Consequently, I decided to focus solely on Basketball. In my opinion, Basketball is the best sport to predict since there will always be a winner, and the variance is not as influenced by factors like weather or players receiving red cards, as in football. Moreover, it is a high-scoring sport, which leads to many valuable halftime bets. For instance, if a team overperforms in the first half, there can be good value on the opposing team, or if the pace is fast and a team underperforms in terms of shooting percentage, there are often good over bets available at halftime. That’s why I primarily bet on Basketball.
